Happy Sunday!! I hope your day has been going well! And I'm so glad you've decided to read my blog.

Sadly I wasn't able to go to church today cause of snow, but I was still able to spend some time in God's word.

And today I wanted to try and answer a question that's been asked for centuries now.

Is God talking to you?

Well to answer that question let me ask you another one, are you listening?

Most people don't like to have a conversation with someone who isn't listening to them, yet that's what we find ourselves doing to God. He's speaking, but we're not hearing, which begs another question, how do we listen to God?

Read God's Word (that's all there is to it)

It was in one of my small group discussions when I and my friend were talking about devotion. We were both discussing how for some reason the devotions always line up with what we just went through.

This morning I had another instance when I was deciding what book of the Bible to read. I ended up choosing Ecclesiastes (it's a good one). I was reading Ecclesiastes 4, and let's just say, it was something I needed to hear.

for the past few months, I've been pushing myself harder by exercising and constantly comparison of myself and others. While I knew it was sort of wrong, I didn't really think I was truly disobeying God or doing anything sinful.

That was until I read this verse.

Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man's envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind. -Ecclesiastes 4:4

I'm not going to lie, I was a little annoyed, mostly at God. I thought he didn't understand why I was doing what I was doing, or he didn't get the pressure put on me.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized just how much God knew. This scripture was written long before I was living (much longer), yet it still applies to me.

Just like how the devotions are written by an author and they're all printed and they're all the same yet for some reason when I open it, it applies to me. I almost feel like God is... talking to me.

I know the want for God to just give you a sign or light up a neon sign, it would be so much easier to understand and so much less work. Yet he doesn't (at least not as commonly) instead he gives us a few thousand texts from him all written in a little thing called the Bible. And I can say without a doubt that the more you read the more answers you get.

so my question to you and my question to end with is.

Are you expecting answers from God without putting in the work to listen?

Changes for the Blog

If you're a usual subscriber then you're probably confused by the name, look, and topic change on here. The truth is, writing isn't as big as it used to be in my life (not to say I won't write or post any more posts about writing cause I will) But in the end, it's a smaller part of who I am and what I feel this blog should be about.

I've decided to turn this into a more life blog and faith blog. Talking about and addressing the things happening in my life. (with warrants, of course, I'm not going to be giving a day-by-day play of my life).

I hope you guys will continue to read, but I also won't blame you if you stop visiting.

Hope you have a good Sunday and thanks for reading.

This was a great post, Miley! It's always very powerful when you realize God is actually speaking directly to you!! I want to have those moments more.

And I feel the same way about my blog!! I don't really post much about writing but I do want to gear it more towards a specific topic. That is currently in the works and I have an idea so hopefully that'll happen soon.😉

Girl you are so right. If I'm being honest, I don't always want to take the time to listen to God because I already have an idea of what he'll say, and I don't want to change my ways. Or I'm just too caught up in my own world to think about listening to him. Thank you so much for this post!

Also, I completely understand that about writing (I've been feeling the same way lately), and I'm excited to read more of your posts in the future!

I'm so glad I was able to encourage you and I completely get that. And I'm still struggling with it (and I'll probably be struggling with it forever)

Thanks girl!! that means a lot
