Hey guys, today I'm talking about how my Nano month went, and I'm going to talk about how this month made me grow as a writer.

also, I'd like to thank the one and only amazing Christine Smith!! for creating this wonderful blogging tag.

Questions

1. How’s the writing going overall?

I really wish I could say that I got a ton done, and completed my goal... but I didn't. And I didn't come anywhere close.

It's funny cause I've written way more every month this year, than this month. Could that be because of how busy this month was? maybe, but I think the main reason was just a lack of motivation and inspiration.

What I really learned this month was... I don't know anything about myself as a writer. I don't know what genres I want to write or what my style is.

So at the end of this month, I realized that I have a lot of searching to do before I really start a novel.

And my hope is by next year I can do Nano and have a better idea of who I am as a writer. (does that sound too corny? probably)

2. What’s been the most fun aspect about writing this novel so far?

So, out of the few thousand words I got in, I can say that it's probably being in such a time period and bringing light to such a dark time for the world really.

3. What do you think of your characters at this point? Who’s your favorite to write about?

I think I'm still struggling to really make them real and relatable. XD

And my fav is probably Lena or Eleanor.

4. Has your novel surprised you in any way?

Certainly, mostly by the fact that I wasn't expecting so much emotion to show in just a few sentences.

5. Have you come across any problem areas?

I'm just going to say yes.

6. What’s been your biggest victory with writing this novel at this point?

Probably just the fact that sometimes the characters take over, and I don't even need to think about what I'm going to write next.

7. If you were transported into your novel and became any one of the characters, which one do you think you’d be? Would you take any different actions than they have?

Well as much as I love Eleanor, I don't think I could handle the tragedy that's taken place in her life.

So I'd probably be Lena, and truthfully I think or at least I would hope I'd have the same amount

of bravery as her.

I can also sympathize with her craving to do the right thing but also to earn the approval of her family.

And how she can be very stoic with her pain and is always in the get-it-done mode.

8. Give us the first sentence or paragraph then 2 (or 3!) more favorite snippets!

There's nothing fancy and the first sentence is kind of lack luster yet it does have meaning.

Lena watched as Eleanor lightly touched each of the keys on the piano. Soft music filled the room.

And here's a quick scene.

“I’m sorry, Tata-” Lena was cut off by a loud bang. She ran to the window and was faced with bombers clouding the sky, casting a dark shadow over the city. Then sudden flashes and bangs covered the city.

“Go get Alicja and Eleanor!” Filip directed.

“But what about-?”

“Go!”

(Also Tata is Polish for dad)

9. Share an interesting tidbit about the writing process so far! (For example: Have you made any hilarious typos? Derailed from your outline? Killed off a character? Changed projects entirely? Anything you want to share!)

Well truthfully nothing very drastic, but I might be adding another character to the story...

10. Take us on a tour of what a normal writing day for this novel looks like. Where do you write? What time of day? Alone or with others? Is a lot of coffee (or some other drink) consumed? Do you light candles? Play music? Get distracted by social media (*cough, cough*)? Tell all!

Really for all my writing, it's just whenever. Being homeschooled and constantly busy it can be hard to plan out a writing routine, and I don't really have any habits or anything.

Thanks for reading!!

I totally get that lack of motivation; I have definitely been there (as you have seen from my serious procrastination on writing KotPR XD). One thing I've learned is that people say you need to "find your genre", "find your writing voice", and "decide who you are as a writer", and that can be good, but at the same time, to me, it really doesn't matter. I write in SO MANY different genres, and I also write books that don't fit into one genre, they fit into multiple. Don't let people put you in a box. You are a unique writer with your own style, goals, and genre, and you don't need to worry about what "type" of writer you…
